You may have seen versions of this as lighting shades around town.  

Also a puzzle toy sold as demonstrating "Coriolis Forces" on our planet.  Yeah, right!

Start with a rhombictriacontahedron:

It's made up of 30 identical rhombi.

Now add little hooks on the corner:

The pieces interlock together to hold a firm sphere.  No glue or tape needed.  The hooks also form lovely flowery patterns.
